This site is for all members of the Karunanivas Family. All those who can trace their ancestry to Mr. Karunakaran Swamy, the founding father of the family are entitled to enroll in this website.
The objective is to provide a forum for interaction among members with a common ancestry. The advantage of the internet is that it can create a virtual community for purely voluntary interaction. There is no parental compulsion.
The heart of this site is the Family Tree, which is envisaged to grow dynamically. A skeleton is provided as a starting point. This extends up to the last generation.
Members are encouraged to interact with each other. You can use the search facility to locate a particular family member or to find a group to be part of. We hope to provide news, particularly about births, marriages and deaths. Also members can share prayers, photos and videos etc.Chat facility is also available. Karunakaran Swamy
A quarter century is a reasonably long span of time to look back and appraise the life of a departed soul. Karunakaran Swamy of Karuna Nivas, Erickavu, who passed away twenty five years ago , was a widely respected figure of his time. Let us first get some context, so we can fully appreciate his yeoman services and their impact on the socioeconomic fabric of this area. He was born in an ordinary middle class family of Erickavu, where the majority of people were poor. There were no roads, schools, hospitals or communication facilities in the village or anywhere near it.
